It has long been recognized that math is the academic "Passport to Success"; therefore, math education has risen to the top of national and international curricula. With great concern, the U.S. has fallen behind many countries resulting in a national urgency to improve math success, understanding and performance across all levels.
Making Math Count
The Center for Comprehensive Math Assessment (CCMA) is presenting a results -based, day long workshop on "Making the Grade in Math – Reaching Proficiency for All" designed to overcome the most common barriers to math success for grades 3 – 9.
+  Targeting and overcoming the weaknesses on state assessments
+  Meeting the new and increased AYP levels
+  Improving performance across "All Tiers" (Especially Special Ed. and Title 1 Students)
+  Meeting the New Proficiency Demands of the Common Core Standards
AYP Benchmarks have reached their highest level. To reach or exceed these demands, new and approved techniques will be needed.

5 Areas Impact the Success of Nearly 70% of All U.S. Students:
1.
Fractions with Unlike Denominators
We will model a highly successful, approved method rarely found in most textbooks
2.
Problem-solving
The workshop provides guided practice with Singapore's Bar Unit Approach-recognized as the #1 method in the world, along with follow-up material
3.
Instant Basic Fact Recall
Absolutely essential to math accuracy. The two most successful approaches will be demonstrated
4.
Number Sense
Especially with Measurement and Geometry
5.
Early Algebraic Reasoning
A critical building block to mathematical understanding

All techniques are research-based, approved by every state, and easily woven into your standards-based program. (No products are ever sold at our workshops)

Meeting the Demands
CCMA specializes in meeting the demands of No Child Left Behind. As AYP levels rise, educators are faced with even more challenges and consequences. NCLB has clearly stated that every student in America deserves a strong and equitable education, yet we all know that there are huge gaps within many subgroups. To reach Advanced from Proficient, or Proficient from Basic, teachers need more support and proven techniques.

The workshops from CCMA provide the best national and international techniques, ALL STATE APPROVED, that the top 10 countries in the world have implemented to overcome these obstacles. We believe every teacher should be comfortable demonstrating multiple approaches, yet few textbooks meet this challenge. Our sessions guide you through multiple ways to achieve success in areas such as fractions, operations, measurement, and even basic fact recall, in a friendly and non-threatening workshop. The most common feedback we receive sounds like this, "Why haven't I seen this before? I wish I had learned math like this!"

The world is changing faster than students and teachers are adjusting! We must remove the same barriers we have faced since the 50's. There are better approaches to success in math and they can easily be woven into your standards-based program.

The tiny island nation of Singapore has been the highest performing country in math the last 12 years. They recognized that problem solving was their weakest area and developed a simple Bar Unit Approach. This one technique can be applied to 80 – 90 percent of all word problems grades 2 – 8. It is amazingly simple to teach and the results are remarkable. This is a sample of what is taught during our workshop. You can turn around the very next day and apply this method in your school or classroom.
